Like the beginning of his career, Kobe Bryant’s sneaker story started off a little shaky. Out of high school he signed with Adidas and didn’t really get his true signature shoe until the Crazy 8. After the crazy 8 adidas rolled out his signature shoe The Kobe. The signature logo was a side profile silhouette of his face complete with afro. The kobe had moderate success. Where things went terribly wrong were with The Kobe 2 the shoe was inspired by the Audi TT. It was bulky, boxy and not really all the comfortable. After his 6 year contract was up Kobe left Adidas and signed with Nike he was rocking retro Jordan’s until his first signature shoe was released. Kobe’s Nike shoes have been hit and miss in the early years but have since come into there own. The Kobe V was made in several colour ways, they were even featured on NIKE ID for people to customize there own. The Kobe VI is working off the success of The Kobe V. The Kobe VI has kept the low cut style but has several advances in technology and style. From the neoprene upper to the scales attached to the shoe to play off the black mamba monicker. Kobe has had many ups and downs in his shoe game but the line has been memorable. As Nike searches for the next great brand to reach the greatness of there Jordan line they bank on the marketability of players like Kobe and LeBron. Do you think The Kobe will ever reach the status of Air Jordan’s? Do you think that long after Kobe Bryant is done playing will Nike keep making The Kobe? time will only tell. Working as a copywriter for Esquire, he left in January 1952, after being denied a $5 raise. In 1953, he mortgaged his furniture, generating a bank loan of $600 (or $800—he cannot recall which) and raised $8,000 from 45 investors—including $1,000 from his mother ("Not because she believed in the venture," he told E! in 2006, "But because she believed in her son.")—to launch Playboy, which was initially going to be called Stag Party. The undated first issue, published in December 1953, featured Marilyn Monroe from her 1949 nude calendar shoot and sold over 50,000 copies.^[10] (Hefner, who never met Monroe, bought the crypt next to hers at theWestwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.^[11]^[12])

After it was rejected by Esquire magazine in 1955, Hefner agreed to publish in Playboy theCharles Beaumont science fiction short story, "The Crooked Man," about straight men being persecuted in a world where homosexuality was the norm. After receiving angry letters to the magazine, Hefner wrote a response to criticism where he said, "If it was wrong to persecute heterosexuals in a homosexual society then the reverse was wrong, too." Hefner is portrayed as a gay rights pioneer in the documentary film, Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel.^[13]

On June 4, 1963, Hefner was arrested for selling obscene literature after an issue of Playboyfeaturing nude shots of Jayne Mansfield was released.^{[citation needed]} A jury was unable to reach a verdict.^[14]

His former secretary, Bobbie Arnstein, was found dead in a Chicago hotel room after an overdose of drugs in January 1975. Hefner called a press conference to allege that she had been driven to suicide by narcotics agents and federal officers. Hefner further claimed the government was out to get him because of Playboy's philosophy and its advocacy of more liberal drug laws.^[15]^[16]

In 2009, Hefner talks about making a film about his life.^[17] He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for television and has made several movie appearances as himself. In 2010, he received a "worst supporting actor" nomination for a Razzie award for his performance in Miss March.

A documentary by Brigitte Berman, Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel was released on July 30, 2010. This was reportedly the first time that Hefner granted full access to a documentary filmmaker.^[18]

In 1999, Hefner financed the Clara Bow-documentary, Discovering the It-girl. "Nobody has what Clara had. She defined an era and made her mark on the nation," he stated.^[19]

This vehicle is in fact a more sophisticated version of the previous e-tron coupe we saw back in Detroit motor show. Each front axle is equipped with an electric motor which pushes 89 horsepower each, along with the rear wheels powered by a twin turbo 3.0 liter V6 TDI that produces 296 horsepower, a combined output of 385 horsepower. The Spyder moves from stand still to 60 mph in around 4.2 seconds, spinning the large 20 inch wheels like an airplane turbine engine. NEW YORK — Steve Jobs had no formal schooling in engineering, yet he’s listed as the inventor or co-inventor on more than 300 U.S. patents. These are some of the significant products that were created under his direction:

1. Apple I (1976) – Apple’s first product was a computer for hobbyists and engineers, made in small numbers. Steve Wozniak designed it, while Jobs orchestrated the funding and handled the marketing.

2. Apple II (1977) – One of the first successful personal computers, the Apple II was designed as a mass-market product rather than something for engineers or enthusiasts. It was still largely Wozniak’s design. Several upgrades for the model followed, and the product line continued until 1993.

3. Lisa (1983) – Jobs’ visit to Xerox Corp.’s research center in Palo Alto inspired him to start work on the first commercial computer with a graphical user interface, with icons, windows and a cursor controlled by a mouse. It was the foundation for today’s computer interfaces, but the Lisa was too expensive to be a commercial success.

4. Macintosh (1984) – Like the Lisa, the Macintosh had a graphical user interface. It was also cheaper and faster and had the backing of a large advertising campaign behind it. People soon realized how useful the graphical interface was for design. That led “desktop publishing,” accomplished with a Mac coupled to a laser printer, to soon become a sales driver.

5. NeXT computer (1989) – After being forced out of Apple, Jobs started a company that built a powerful workstation computer. The company was never able to sell large numbers, but the computer was influential: The world’s first Web browser was created on one. Its software also lives on as the basis for today’s Macintosh and iPhone operating system.

6. iMac (1998) – When Jobs returned to Apple in 1996, the company was foundering, with an ever shrinking share of the PC market. The radical iMac was the first step in reversing the slide. It was strikingly designed as a bubble of blue plastic that enclosed both the monitor and the computer. Easy to set up, it captured the imagination just as people across the world were having their eyes opened to the benefits of the Internet and considering getting their first home computer.

7. iPod (2001) – It wasn’t the first digital music player with a hard drive, but it was the first successful one. Apple’s expansion into portable electronics has had vast ramifications. The iPod’s success prepared the way for the iTunes music store and the iPhone.

8. iTunes store (2003) – Before the iTunes store, buying digital music was a hassle, making piracy the more popular option. The store simplified the process and brought together tracks from all the major labels. The store became the largest music retailer in the U.S. in 2008.

9. iPhone (2007) – The iPhone did for the phone experience what the Macintosh did for personal computing – it made the power of a smartphone easy to harness. Apple is now the world’s most profitable maker of phones, and the influence of the iPhone is evident in all smartphones.

10. iPad (2010) – Dozens of companies, including Apple, had created tablet computers before the iPad, but none caught on. The iPad finally cracked the code, creating a whole new category of computer practically by itself.

Ahhh… The (new) age-old question: Why are there so many single black women? Black people blame it on improbable standards. Steve Harvey blames it on psychology and that you’re not buying his book. Everyone else blames it on incarceration rates and under-education in black men. Me? I blame it on something that every facet of human life could stand to take a spoonful of: reality. Explain? Of course I will.

The Wall Street Journal, in its traditional fashion of catching onto trends late and passing them on to culturally vapid conservatives, had an interesting piece profiling the plight of a sadly single black woman and her unwed compatriots:

Audrey belongs to the most unmarried group of people in the U.S.: black women. Nearly 70% of black women are unmarried, and the racial gap in marriage spans the socioeconomic spectrum, from the urban poor to well-off suburban professionals. Three in 10 college-educated black women haven’t married by age 40; their white peers are less than half as likely to have remained unwed…
Audrey and other black women confront a social scene in which desirable black men are scarce.
Part of the problem is incarceration. More than two million men are now imprisoned in the U.S., and roughly 40% of them are African-American. At any given time, more than 10% of black men in their 20s or 30s—prime marrying ages—are in jail or prison.
Educationally, black men also lag. There are roughly 1.4 million black women now in college, compared to just 900,000 black men. By graduation, black women outnumber men 2-to-1. Among graduate-school students, in 2008 there were 125,000 African-American women but only 58,000 African-American men. That same year, black women received more than three out of every five law or medical degrees awarded to African-Americans.
These problems translate into dimmer economic prospects for black men, and the less a man earns, the less likely he is to marry. That’s how the relationship market operates. Marriage is a matter of love and commitment, but it is also an exchange. A black man without a job or the likelihood of landing one cannot offer a woman enough to make that exchange worthwhile.- via WSJ.com

Then the WSJ goes on to pose the tired question to its readers:

Ralph Richard Banks’s recent WSJ Review essay, “An Interracial Fix for Black Marriage,” fueled a continuing conversation: Should more black women increase their odds of romance and marriage by expanding their pool of eligible men? The bleak statistics he cited – that 70 percent of black women are unmarried, for example – forced an examination of lower education and higher incarceration rates of black men, and of the financial disparity that Mr. Banks believes can strain relationships when the woman earns more.
What do you think? Is it fair to point to these demographic factors as the reason so many black women are unmarried? Are black women who date outside being disloyal? Or – as Mr. Banks argues – are women who “love across the color line” actually helping black men by correcting an imbalance which has depressed black marriage rates? – via WSJ.com

Excuse the multiple block quotes, but the facts had to be transcribed. My reasoning, even in lieu of those facts still boils down to one word: reality. For all of the facts, numbers, figures, interviews, surveys and studies that can be done, none of them can truly alter one’s personal reality. In fact, it is personal reality that affects them.

If there is one thing that I’ve noticed in these dealings regarding black marriage rates, it is that blacks (both men and women) have fed into these statistics as of late. They let the statistics affect them personally and take up the statistics as reasoning for their own relationship woes. I liken it to reading too much WebMD. First, you’re checking out symptoms that you saw on a Discovery Heath show. Next, you’re wondering why this part hurts or why that one may not be functioning as you once thought. The next thing you know, you’re at the doctor’s office paying a $20 co-pay for an ailment you knew nothing of a week ago. Nothing a hefty dose of reality couldn’t prevent.

You see, the problem with black marriage rates, questioning interracial dating and the like isn’t in the qualities of the people being studied. The problem is that everyone in those studies is looking for some idealized version of those qualities. In Hollywood and the media, we see glamorized versions of love, not knowing that in reality relationships take work and compatibility, not necessarily similar racial backgrounds. Barack and Michelle didn’t just see each other across the halls of Sidley Austin in ’89 and fall madly in love. Our future president had to put in three months of work before she’d even go out with him.

This hearkens back to reality in that no one set blueprint can EVER determine someone’s relationship-worthiness or prospects for marriage. Reality almost always makes sure of that, and needs to be a factor in one’s search. You should search for someone who is right for YOU, not for someone to serve some ulterior, extraneous impulse/inkling about whether someone is the right person.

As to the the question of whether marrying outside of their race is a formula for success, again a reality check is needed. If Guy A make you snort milk out of your nose when he jokes with you, and Guy B only calls you beautiful when you’re down to your birthday suit, then why wouldn’t you go with Guy A, regardless of his race? Taking on Drake’s “Dreams Money Can Buy”, Pusha creates “Don’t Fuck With Me” and adds a dope feel that I think Drake couldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I love Drake – all his music – the R&B and the rap, but Pusha’s voice brings about a rawness and old school vibe that I don’t feel Drake can make happen. While no rapper made Forbes 400 list of America's richest citizens, the magazine analyzed the race to become Hip Hop's first billionaire.

The publication predicts that Sean “Diddy” Combs will be the first to be crowned a Hip-Hop Billionaie, already working with an estimated worth of $500 million.

Between his stakes in Sean John and Enyce, marketing firm Blue Flame, and Ciroc vodka, the Bad Boy could put himself ahead of Jay-Z as Hip Hop's richest figure.

However, Birdman disagrees with the magazine and believes he and Weezy will be the first.

“I think Young Money Cash Money would be the first billion-dollar brand in hip-hop,” he wrote in an email. “We strong and growing every day as a brand and fast. Within the next few years we will be billionaires.”
